Self, Other, the Gaze, Representation, Abstraction, Distortion, etc...

  1. I have never seen anything like that before. Somehow the firgure on the left looks completely flat, the figure on the right looks chisled closer to 3-d and the figure in the middle reads as very real to me.

  2. Thanks for the feedback, Greg. I have been thinking about altering the way I'm rendering the figure to guide the viewer towards/through a narrative. I just haven't figured out what that narrative is yet.

    Carter Cue sent me an email and suggested that I look at your work. Interesting title and very accomplished presentation and play of the concepts inferred in the title. You should identify the dimensions of the originals in your profile images. I particularly liked the Reeling Self but didn't have any sense of the size. Carter Cue said that you might be coming through Chicago near the end of the year. I would be interested in seeing some of your work though my interests tends to smaller (i.e. not museum and gallery sized) pieces).
